Jeffrey Epstein Plane Passenger Details Could Be Released

Senator Marsha Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican, is pushing for the subpoena of flight logs and passenger information of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's private airplane.

Epstein's plane, a Boeing 727, was derisively named the "Lolita Express" by certain media outlets following allegations that it was used to fly underage girls to some of the late financier's properties around the world.

Following Epstein's death in jail in 2019, which was ruled a suicide, lists have circulated on social media purporting to show the public figures who had visited Epstein's private island, located in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

U.S. investor Stephen Deckoff, with SD Investments LLC, bought Great St. James and Little St. James islands, previously owned by Epstein, for $60 million, reported The Associated Press in May.

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday related to the authorization of subpoenas for Justices Samuel A. Alito Jr. and Clarence Thomas as part of a Supreme Court ethics probe, Blackburn voiced her resistance to the subpoenas and mentioned Jeffery Epstein.

"Since we're in the business of issuing subpoenas now, here are a few more that I've filed," Blackburn said. "A subpoena to Jeffrey Epstein's estate to provide the flight logs for his private plane. Given the numerous allegations of human trafficking and abuse surrounding Mr. Epstein, we've got to identify everyone who could have participated in his horrific conduct."

Blackburn continued: "So, Mr. Chairman, I think there are real issues that we should be talking about: Social media is destroying our kids' lives, the southern border is wide open, and President Biden has lost track of 85,000 precious children. The world is on fire, but you've chosen to launch an assault on the Supreme Court's legitimacy.

"If you want to take up our time and go there, Mr. Chairman, we can go there. This is a sad day in the history of this prestigious committee, but I'm confident that the American people see this sham for what it really is."

A subpoena is a formal order that compels someone to give testimony in a legal setting, usually before a court or a congressional hearing. A subpoena can also require someone to produce documents or other records in their possession.

It is unclear if this subpoena floated by Senator Blackburn, if authorized, would make Epstein's flight logs public.

Chairman Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, abruptly halted plans to authorize the Supreme Court subpoenas on Thursday amid the Republican resistance, reported The New York Times.

Newsweek has reached out to Blackburn's office via email for additional comment.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for independent 2024 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. exclusively told Newsweek that Kennedy had "flown one time on Jeffrey Epstein's private plane. It was in 1993 from [New York City] to Palm Beach [Florida] to visit RFK Jr.'s mom for Easter."

"Mary, Kennedy's wife, and two of their kids were on the flight," the representative said. "Mary knew Epstein's girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, who learned that they were going to Palm Beach for Easter and offered their family a ride."

There is no direct evidence to suggest that listed flight passengers on Epstein's plane were involved in any of Epstein's crimes. Social media users have falsely suggested that all those who knew him were in some way complicit to his crimes.

The list of people who allegedly flew on Epstein's plane were:

  • Donald J. Trump
  • Bill Clinton
  • Kevin Spacey
  • Chris Tucker
  • Bill Gates
  • Prince Andrew
  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
  • Violinist Itzhak Perlman
  • Former U.S. Senator John Glenn
  • Former Senate majority leader George Mitchell

All names have been reported by the AP and CNN.
