How Joe Alwyn Reportedly Feels About Ex Taylor Swift Amid Travis Kelce Romance

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Joe Alwyn is living his life amid Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's new relationship.

The British actor, who was in a relationship with Swift from 2017 to 2023, is "dating and happy," a source told People. Alwyn is "focused on work," the insider added, noting: "He's a great guy and not into drama in any way."

After Swift and Alwyn's breakup was revealed in April 2023, the "Guilty as Sin?" artist briefly dated Matty Healy in May before settling down with Kelce later that summer. Alwyn, for his part, has also "moved on," the insider told the outlet.

The Harriet star "certainly doesn't talk poorly about [Taylor]. He was in love with her, and it just didn't work out," the source noted.

The insider also reiterated Alwyn's hatred for the spotlight, which many believe was the cause of the couple's split. (Fans have frequently theorized that the lyrics of Swift's Midnights track "Bejeweled" — specifically the lines, "Don't put me in the basement / When I want the penthouse of your heart" — refer to Alwyn's desire for privacy.)

"Joe loves acting, but can't stand the attention that comes with it," the source said. "He's not comfortable in the spotlight."

Kelce, on the other hand, seems to thrive in it.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who helped quarterback Patrick Mahomes lead the team to back-to-back Super Bowl wins, has been living under the glare of the spotlight for years — but it's reached a whole new level now that he's in a relationship with Swift.

The couple, who most recently stepped out at Mahomes' Mahomies Foundation Golf Classic over the weekend, have frequently packed on the PDA everywhere from nights out on the town to the 2024 Super Bowl itself.

Even Kelce can't believe he scored Swift.

"I don't know how I did it because she isn't — she was not into sports. So I don't know how the f*** I did it," he laughed while talking to his brother, Jason Kelce, on their "New Heights" podcast earlier this month, before dead-panning: "No, 100 percent, I know exactly how I did it."
