Joe Rogan's Rare Photo of Himself Goes Viral

Joe Rogan isn't often one to share a selfie on social media, but the snap he dropped on Monday has gone viral.

Millions gathered across the U.S. to watch the total solar eclipse on Monday, flooding the 13 states in the eclipse's path of totality—where the moon completely blocked out the sun. With the route beginning in Mexico and ending in Texas, some areas were blacked out for up to four minutes.

The event is incredibly rare, with this being the first time those living in the U.S. have seen an eclipse since 2017. On the day, various celebrities shared their eclipse experience on social media.

This included Rogan, whose podcast The Joe Rogan Experience is among the world's most listened-to shows. He took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a photo of him wearing an impressive pair of eclipse-friendly sunglasses.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Rogan for comment Wednesday.

"Im out here waiting on the Anunnaki," the UFC commentator captioned the photo, referencing a group of deities of the ancient Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians and Babylonians.

At the time of writing, the post had been viewed 5.8 million times, with thousands of people taking to the comments to share their thoughts.

"Maybe the real Anunnaki were the friends we made on the DMT," one person joked. DMT is a hallucinogenic compound and one of the main active ingredients in ayahuasca.

"Should have done a podcast outside during it ! Tim Dillon as guest?" said another, alongside a laugh-crying emoji.

A third person added: "Lol, sick glasses Joe."

Others edited the photo, with one person adding a tinfoil hat atop Rogan's head.

This isn't the first time that Rogan has been involved in a conversation about the Anunnaki. Stand-up star Katt Williams discussed the Anunnaki when he appeared on a February episode of The Joe Rogan Experience to promote his upcoming Netflix special.

The duo discussed everything from driverless cars to Hollywood's "hidden agenda" during the three-hour interview. They also got onto the topic of Williams' Anunnaki-inspired jewelry, with the Friday star wearing a large silver chain with a pendant that read "Woke Foke."

"Like, like this necklace, right? People online were like, 'Yeah, is that Buddhist?' Or 'That's this or that.' It's none of that," he explained during the episode.

"Like, I just try to find the answers to things so I designed this because this is that thing that you see that all the Anunakki guys have that looks like a wristwatch and they always have it and you're always trying to see what that is."

When Rogan asked him what it was, Williams explained: "It is a time and—it's a compass. It's a time-keeping compass...That's what made the carrier of great importance because he was able to do things that were magical in nature, like go somewhere and get right back."

Rogan is no stranger to discussing controversial topics on his show as he also previously discussed whether the Bible depicts UFO sightings and drug use during an installment of his popular podcast.

The broadcaster delved into the matter during a discussion with writer, producer and director David Holthouse in an episode released on April 2. Holthouse and Rogan spoke about various UFO sightings over the years and theorized that they could be evidence of top-secret military projects or alien life forms.

Among the several ideas thrown forward, Rogan also floated the theory that UFOs have always been present on Earth, before pulling up scripture from the Bible's Old Testament Book of Ezekiel, which speaks of an encounter with unknown beings.
