Joe Scarborough Says Stormy Daniels Was Able to 'Tongue-Tie' Trump Like President Did to Opponents

MSNBC's Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough on Thursday morning said porn star Stormy Daniels and her attorney Michael Avenatti have done unto Donald Trump as the president has done unto his foes.

"My gosh, this guy has done to Donald Trump—and Stormy Daniels has done to Donald Trump—what Donald Trump was able to do to people like Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush and other political giants for a year and a half," said Scarborough, according to Raw Story. "And that is freeze them, tongue-tie them and get them trying to figure out, How do I respond to this?—because he has no response and he's hiding."

Scarborough noted that Trump has not put out his public schedule since Daniels's 60 Minutes interview Sunday, in which she gave details on their alleged sexual affair.

"This president has always been a perpetual motion machine as it pertains to tweets, press releases, insulting statements, whatever it took to keep the news cycle going," Scarborough said. "He churned it up 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This week, since Stormy, silence."

Scarborough, who previously served on the House of Representatives, is not the only person in the political sphere to point out Trump's unusual hushed mode lately.

Lanny Davis, a former White House special counsel who assisted former President Bill Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky affair scandal broke out, on Monday said that Trump "was silent and wasn't attacking or criticizing or contradicting" Daniels.

"His absence of comment, to me, was a concession to a not very shocking or newsworthy conclusion, which is that he carried on extramarital affairs," Davis said.

Trump, who has often had the last word with such foes as Rubio and Bush, limited his comments following the 60 Minutes interview to a terse denial that did not name Daniels but obviously referred to her.

"So much Fake News. Never been more voluminous or more inaccurate," Trump tweeted on Monday. "But through it all, our country is doing great!
