Fame comes with a cost — and JoJo Siwa has an exact figure in mind.
In a resurfaced TikTok from BuzzFeed Now, the 20-year-old "Karma" singer was asked on the red carpet which item she had on her person came with the heaviest price tag.
"The most expensive thing I'm wearing? My teeth," Siwa declared about her veneers. "These motherf****** cost me 50 grand."
Siwa is in the midst of her newly unleashed "Karma" era, debuting the music video for her new single on Friday, April 5. (It has since racked up 14.5 million views on YouTube.) The former Dance Moms star is seizing the moment to show off her new, edgy persona — she walked the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards dressed in her full glittery "Karma" costume and heavy eye makeup — a far cry from her days as a child star with a giant bow.
While Siwa sees her transformation as akin to Miley Cyrus' Bangerz era, some fans think she is trying too hard and think the music should speak for itself.
Siwa, however, has had plenty of experience with judgment. "I judge myself at everything. I'm a very insecure person," she told E! News in November 2023.
On April 4, the day before she released her "Karma" video, the dancer spoke with Entertainment Tonight about how she's been criticized throughout her entire career.
"Everything gets judged. You know, people told me I have a receding hairline, they don't know that I have a stress rash and that's why I'm balding right here," she said, pointing to the front of her head. "A 12-year-old shouldn't have a stress rash on their head that makes them bald, but I did."
Therefore, Siwa said, she's going to be exactly who she is — and not care about anyone else's opinions.
"I think now, people are afraid to be different. We're all different. We're all weird. We're all a little f***ed up. And I think that's OK to show that," Siwa concluded.
Still, several stars are on her side, including KISS rocker Gene Simmons (whom she resembled in her "Karma" fit).
"JoJo is cool. Anybody who doesn't get it is just jealous, period," Simmons told TMZ earlier this month. "Never be ordinary. Always be extraordinary. JoJo is extraordinary, and she looks cool."
