Jordan Peterson's Joe Rogan Comment Goes Viral

Jordan Peterson has indicated he'd like once again to be a guest on Joe Rogan's podcast—and his post about it has gone viral.

During an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan discussed religion—something Peterson regularly talks about—and said he believes "we need Jesus."

X user (formerly Twitter) @PaulAnleitner shared a clip of the segment to the social media platform, which he captioned: "Joe Rogan, once a vocal evangelist of New Atheist talking points on religion, now yearns for the 'just and righteous' Kingdom of God and believes the world 'needs Jesus...for real.'"

Anleitner said that while this was quite a change, he believes Rogan's experience is "emblematic of a wider shift in attitudes towards religion."

In the video, the podcast host said he believes now would be a good time for Jesus to come back.

"But I think, as time rolls on, people are gonna understand the need to have some sort of divine structure to things, some sort of belief in the sanctity of love and of truth. And a lot of that comes from religion. A lot of people's moral compass and the guidelines that they've used to follow to live a just and righteous life has come from religion," he said.

"And unfortunately a lot of very intelligent people, they dismiss all the positive aspects of religion because they think that the stories are mere superstitious fairy tales, that they have no place in this modern world and we're inherently good and your ethics are based on your own moral compass and we all have one and that's not necessarily true. We need Jesus."

Peterson, a Canadian psychologist known for his biblical lectures, clearly wants to discuss the topic with Rogan, as he re-shared the post and wrote: "See you soon @joerogan." At the time of writing it had been viewed 428,600 times.

Peterson has appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience in the past, but it hasn't been confirmed whether he will be a guest on the show again.

Newsweek contacted spokespeople for Peterson and Rogan for comment via email on Friday.

It's safe to say that Peterson would be happy with what Rogan said as he previously called the podcast host "the most powerful journalist who's ever lived" as he defended him from criticism.

The conservative commentator made the comments during a remote appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

During the interview, Morgan asked Peterson about remarks that California Governor Gavin Newsom made during an interview with Bloomberg in September.

Democrat Newsom expressed his concern over Artificial Intelligence and its role in spreading misinformation online. He also said that it helps fuel "micro cults" of people who follow the likes of Peterson, Rogan and social media influencer Andrew Tate.

"My son is asking me about Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson. And then immediately he's talking about Joe Rogan," Newsom said. "And I'm like; here it is, the pathway."

Peterson told Morgan that "anybody who talks about misinformation and disinformation that other people are spreading, they immediately invalidate themselves as a serious observer in my viewpoint because they're basically arbitrary censors."

"The micro cult comment, that's just ridiculously funny because if you are daft enough to think that Joe Rogan is a micro cult, you live in 1995," Peterson said. "Joe Rogan is the most powerful journalist who's ever lived by an order of magnitude. And if you don't know that, you're just not in the modern world.

"Young people are in the modern world, and they know that Joe Rogan isn't a micro cult. Gavin Newsom might not know that, but that just means that he's anachronistic enough to be deluded."

He added: "Maybe if Newsom had a clue he'd be curious about why his own children are interested in these micro cults and exactly what it is about Tate and Rogan and I that are grouped together, even though it's a strange grouping."
