Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been charged by the English Football Association (FA) with misconduct for comments made about referee Anthony Taylor.

Mourinho, 53, suggested prior to United's 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on October 17 that Taylor, the official in charge of the game, would find it "difficult" to referee after Liverpool fans questioned his appointment.

There is a ban on managers talking about match officials ahead of games. Mourinho faces a ban, fine or warning about his future conduct.

Taylor, 38, is based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.
