Days after Kanye West's controversial dinner at Mar-a-Lago with Donald Trump and far-right figure Nick Fuentes, all tweets referencing his new associate have been removed from the rapper's Twitter account.
West, who now goes by Ye, caused a stir in the past week after sharing a video detailing his meeting with Trump and Fuentes at the former president's Florida estate. In the video, West highlighted how impressed Trump was with Fuentes, a known Holocaust denier and white supremacist.
The rapper also removed content featuring far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos, who was present at the Mar-a-Lago meeting, and other tweets mentioning Fuentes.
West, whose Twitter account was recently reinstated by new CEO Elon Musk, has not stated a reason as to why the tweets were taken down. His latest tweet was sent on November 25 and features a graphic that says "Ye 2024," a reference to his presidential campaign.
One day prior, West shared a debrief video of himself talking about his trip to Mar-a-Lago. Another video featured people in the media discussing his latest behavior, while a third video showed him speaking with Yiannopoulos. All of the videos, which racked up millions of views and thousands of comments and retweets, have now been deleted.
West had also retweeted Cassandra Fairbanks, a Timcast employee, and Trump ally Darren J. Beattie. Both of these tweets have been removed, as well.
The Yeezy designer often deletes content on his social media channels, seemingly in an effort to keep the pages or timelines clean. He often posts on Instagram, only to delete them hours later. Twitter is marginally different as Ye still has nearly 2,000 tweets up.
In the past two months, West has been slammed for his antisemitic remarks after saying he was going to go "death con 3 on Jewish people." He lost billions of dollars after companies like Adidas severed ties with him.
After meeting with West and Fuentes, Trump has also been slammed by fellow Republicans, as well as Jewish groups who called his meeting "appalling."
West has not posted on social media since removing his tweets. His last activity was retweeting Elon Musk, who on November 28 wrote, "What's going on here Tim Cook?" Musk had accused Apple of threatening to pull Twitter from the app store and not supporting free speech.
West has also not updated his Instagram page in over a month.
A recent NBC News report suggested the meeting between West, Fuentes, Yiannopoulos, Karen Giorno and Trump at Mar-a-Lago was "a trap." Fuentes took to messaging app Telegram on Tuesday and denied this claim. "My intention was not to hurt Trump by attending the dinner, that is fake news. I love Donald Trump," he wrote.
