Is Kate Bishop in the New 'Avengers: Endgame' Trailer? Probably Not But We Can Dream

Following the release of the second Avengers: Endgame trailer, many Marvel fans are excited about the possibility of the MCU introducing the "other" Hawkeye, Kate Bishop.

During the trailer, there are scenes of Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye showing a young girl how to hold a bow and shoot arrows. This piqued the interest of Kate Bishop fans as they feel this could be the MCU's way of bringing in the character.

Kate Bishop was first introduced in 2005 in the first issue of Young Avengers, a team book of young heroes who have connections to established members of the Avengers. Bishop, while not possessing any powers, knew how to fight and was an exceptional archer.

She was trained by Clint and would become his partner on several missions in books including the critically-acclaimed 2012 series Hawkeye by Matt Fraction and David Aja.

But is that young woman in the Avengers: Endgame trailer Kate Bishop? It's unlikely, based on the history of Clint Barton in the MCU.

What's more likely is the girl is Clint's daughter, Lila, who was introduced in the 2015 film, Avengers: Age of Ultron. After a fight with the villainous Ultron, the Avengers hideout on Clint's farm where they meet the family they didn't know he had - aside from Black Widow. We are introduced to Lila, his wife Laura and his son Cooper.

Hawkeye will likely have his own character arc in Endgame. After missing Infinity War, Clint reappears in a darker costume reminiscent of his Ronin persona. It's alluded to that his family were snapped out of existence by Thanos, which could explain the flashback-looking scenes.

Kate Bishop isn't related to Clint in the comics, but this could be the MCU's way of bringing the character into the fold with a different origin. It wouldn't be the first time the MCU changed up comics continuity. Ultron is the perfect example. Originally, the killer robot was created by Hank Pym but in the film he is the product of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner's work with AI.

There's also the case of Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel's revised origin story.

Avengers: Endgame is set to release on April 26.
