Kate Middleton's Meeting With European Queens Becomes Viral Hit

The Princess of Wales' meeting with two European queens has become the subject of a new hit viral video, as footage of the royal captured during a visit to Denmark in 2022 has resurfaced on social media site TikTok.

Kate has been photographed alongside a number of world royals in her 12 years as a member of the British monarchy, following her marriage to Prince William in 2011.

In 2022, the princess made a rare solo overseas visit to Denmark where she attended engagements connected with early years childhood development, her main professional focus.

During a day of events in the city of Copenhagen, Kate was greeted by two of Denmark's senior royal women, Queen Margrethe II and Crown Princess Mary (who as of January 14, 2024, is Europe's newest queen).

Margrethe made world headlines on New Year's Eve in 2023, when she announced her surprise abdication in her annual new year's message to the nation. The queen had ruled for 52 years and following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, was Europe's only queen ruling in her own right.

On January 14, Margrethe abdicated, with the throne passing to her eldest son Crown Prince Frederik (now King Frederik X). His wife, the Australian born Mary, then became his Queen Consort.

During her February 2022 meeting with both Margrethe and Mary at the Christian IX Palace in Copenhagen, Kate took part in a photocall for members of the waiting press.

Uploaded to TikTok by user royalsforlife1, on January 19, footage from this photocall has gone viral, gaining over 900,000 views on the social media site so far.

The video also includes footage of Kate and Mary attending a joint early years engagement in the city.

Together, the two royals have been photographed together on a number of occasions, notably at a Buckingham Palace reception in 2023, prior to King Charles III's coronation.

As Crown Princess and Princess of Wales, Mary and Kate ranked equally at the time, as wives of heirs to the throne. Now Mary is queen, she outranks Kate and at their next formal meeting, the princess would be expected to curtsy to her.

The viral video has received in excess of 29,000 likes and over 160 comments, many of which have praised Kate and the Danish royals.

"Mary and Kate could be sisters," wrote one TikTok user.

"Kate is so cute," posted another, with a further comment reading: "Our Mary looks wonderful. She is the perfect Queen. Us Aussies love her to bits. Denmark is lucky to have her. Kate is awesome also."

Several other users also highlighted a moment in the clip which has been nicknamed the "princess shuffle." The moment saw Kate quickly reposition her feet to move closer to Queen Margrethe for the photographs, which was soon picked up by fans, becoming the focus of social media posts and clips.
