Taylor Swift's Pal Keleigh Teller Seemingly Shades Joe Alwyn Amid 'TTPD' Release

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Keleigh Teller seemingly made a pointed remark about Joe Alwyn on social media following the release of Taylor Swift's new album, The Tortured Poets Department.

The wife of actor Miles Teller, Keleigh, 31, shared her reaction on Instagram Stories by posting a screenshot of herself listening to "So Long, London" from Swift's newly released album. Alongside the screenshot, she included a peace sign emoji, seemingly indicating her feelings about her friend's split from Alwyn after six years together.

The song is presumed to touch on the reasons behind the 34-year-old pop star and ex Alwyn's breakup in 2023, reflecting on their time spent together at the actor's home in England. The song also appears to be a play on her previous one, "London Boy," with lyrics from the track suggesting a fading relationship with lines like "stop[ping] CPR" because "the spirit was gone" and declaring that they would "never come to" again.

Swift continues to sing in the song, "So long, London / Had a good run / A moment of warm sun / But I'm not the one," further hinting that the song is about none other than Alwyn.

Further emphasizing the separation, Swift engaged in a subtle social media gesture by "liking" a meme post that unfavorably ranked Alwyn, 33, at the bottom of a boyfriend pyramid, sparking discussions among fans.

"CANT BELIEVE TAYLOR LIKED THIS... SHE IS COMING FOR JOE" commented one user on the post Swift liked. "Taylor liked this post and I'm here for it, 😅" said another.

Some Swifties seem to think that perhaps the "Bad Blood" singer didn't swipe through the entire carousel of memes, saying things like, "HELP I'm sure she didn't even slide and just liked after watching the first one but it's funny af. She's hilarious," and "She's being a millennial, probably didn't swipe the next pictures. 😭."

Swift began her relationship with Alwyn in 2016. The couple maintained a low profile throughout their relationship, which only came under widespread media scrutiny after they parted ways last year. This relationship followed a period where Swift had expressed discomfort with having to "hide" in her previous relationships.
