KFC Worker's First Day on Job Takes Bizarre Turn: 'Never Get Over This'

The moment a woman fainted during her first shift at a local fast-food restaurant was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) and has gone viral on social media.

Charlise, who lives in Sydney, Australia, suddenly collapsed without warning while learning the ropes at her new job at KFC, falling backwards and being on the floor for a few seconds before springing back up.

Fainting is a relatively common occurrence, often caused by a sudden drop in blood flow to the brain, leading to a temporary loss of consciousness. While typically harmless and short-lived, such episodes can be alarming for both the person experiencing it and those around them.

In the video that Charlise shared to TikTok earlier this month, the CCTV showed how one moment she was standing up chatting with a co-worker to suddenly falling backwards. Thankfully, she was fine moments later.

The footage has since gone viral on the social media platform and has been viewed over 20 million times.

"I was working at KFC, and this happened roughly a year ago. I was okay afterwards, with only minor injuries on my back and head," Charlise told Newsweek. "I could not believe that this happened to me as I have never fainted before."

Alongside the video, Charlise wrote: "I will simply never get over this video of me fainting on my first shift."

Despite fainting usually being a temporary and harmless episode, reacting promptly when someone faints is crucial. One should check for breathing and a pulse, and if the person is unconscious, gently place them on their side in the recovery position while seeking medical assistance if necessary.

It's also recommended to encourage the person to sit or lie down while the symptoms pass, and elevating the legs above the head can aid in restoring blood flow to the brain.

After the incident, Charlise felt better fairly quickly, but she and her co-workers were understandably shocked by the sudden turn of events.

"My staff was helpful after it happened, but I think everyone was mostly in shock!" she recalled to Newsweek. "They gave me food and sent me home."

Newsweek reached out to KFC via email for comment.

Despite no longer working for the fast-food chain, Charlise shared the video for fun online, and was shocked by the response.

"I wanted to post it online as a joke, but didn't realize it would get over 20 million views," she said.

In the comments section, one TikTok user asked, "Are you okay? What caused it?"

While another user shared a similar experience and wrote: "This happened to me too! first shift. I wasn't even there a half hour. I think I was 15. It was embarrassing."

A third commented: "I wish I would've got my fainting video from when I worked at a gas station. I straight told the customer to give me a minute and fainted."
