Kid Cudi Praised After Rocking Floral Print Dress On Saturday Night Live

Kid Cudi is being praised on social media following his performances on Saturday Night Live, including one where he wore a floral dress.

The Grammy-winning rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, made his debut as the show's musical guest last night, first taking to the stage to perform "Tequila Shots."

The 37-year-old wore a T-shirt paying tribute to the late SNL cast member Chris Farley under a green mohair cardigan. Farley died of a drug overdose in 1997, aged 33. Cudi also tweeted a picture of a sign in the SNL studio that says "Watch Your Head Farley."

The rapper returned to the stage later to perform "Sad People" in a floral print dress with spaghetti straps, designed by Off-White.

"Freedom is, as freedom does. feel free," designer and Off-White CEO Virgil Abloh wrote on Instagram, adding the dress was "specially reserved for Mr. Rager only, @kidcudi."

The outfit delighted fans on Twitter, where Cudi was trending on Sunday. Many noted that both the dress and cardigan worn in his first performance were tributes to Kurt Cobain, who took his own life at the age of 27 in April 1994.

The Nirvana frontman famously wore a green cardigan during the band's MTV Unplugged concert in 1993, and rocked a floral dress on the cover of The Face magazine the same year. The famed cardigan sold for a record $334,000 at auction in 2019.

A Cudi fan page tweeted: "If you're out here hating on Kid Cudi because he was wearing a dress, grow up and understand that it's not only an homage to Kurt Cobain but also him speaking loudly for everyone to be and love themselves for who they are."

Elsewhere in the show, Cudi appeared in a music video skit alongside Pete Davidson, Chris Redd and Timothée Chalamet where they sang about their love for that "weird little flute."
