King Charles Leaves Hospital Following Prostate Procedure

King Charles III has left hospital after spending three nights under medical supervision following a "corrective procedure" on his prostate.

On Monday afternoon Charles emerged from The London Clinic with Queen Camilla, where he was photographed walking to his car and waving to well-wishers.

Of the king's condition, Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "The King was this afternoon discharged from hospital following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation.

"His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days."

The king was diagnosed with an "enlarged prostate" earlier this month, with Buckingham Palace releasing a rare statement about the monarch's medical issue on January 17.

"In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate," it read. "His Majesty's condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The King's public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation."

The monarch entered the clinic on January 26, where his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, underwent "planned abdominal surgery" on January 16.

The king reportedly visited Kate Middleton before his medical procedure.

Prior to his discharge from the hospital on Monday, Kensington Palace announced that Kate too had left the facility, returning to her home at Windsor Castle where she is expected to recuperate until after Easter.

"The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress," a palace statement read. "The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.

"The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world."

While Kate is expected to be out of action until late March at the earliest, Charles' return to public engagements is understood to be planned for much sooner.

In addition to Charles and Kate, Prince William has also taken a break from official appearances while his wife has been in hospital.

Now she has returned home, the prince will reportedly return to engagements slowly as her care and recuperation progress.
