Avengers: Endgame is set to release on April 26, but spoilers and fan theories regarding how the film will reverse the many deaths that occurred in Infinity War are cropping up all over the place. While up to this point, theories have focused around how the Avengers will manage to defeat Thanos, a newer theory suggests that the Mad Titan may not be the foe the Marvel superhero team will encounter. In the latest theory, Marvel's Kronos takes center stage as both hero and villain. The theory suggests the Cosmic entity will provide the Avengers the tools they need to defeat Thanos and undo the terrible Snap before revealing his ulterior motives. Here's how it all shakes out.
Avengers Endgame Theory: Kronos Takes The Stage
So the theory starts with the supposition that Jim Starlin's "joke" about more of his characters showing up in Avengers: Endgame was actually a legitimate spoiler. After all, the Infinity Wars storyline leaned heavily on Starlin's "Infinity Gauntlet" comic, which introduced the Thanos Snap and, if the movie follows the comic, the Snap would be reversed. If the directors continue to use Starlin's work as inspiration, it makes sense that they might incorporate more of his characters into Avengers: Endgame as well. Add to that the rumors that Doctor Strange was seen filming with a CGI character and it seems likely another Starlin character is bound to make an appearance. If this is true, then Redditor ak2sup has a perfect theory for a character that may play a pivotal role in the next Marvel film's plot.
Enter Kronos.
According to the theory, Marvel's Cosmic entity, Kronos (a.k.a. Chronos) has been imprisoned in the Quantum Realm — the only place where Kronos' time-controlling ability has no power. The theory suggests that the Avengers will travel to the Quantum Realm in hopes of enlisting him in defeating Thanos. Though Kronos will ultimately give the Avengers the time-travelling wrist device shown in leaked photos sets. The Avengers will use the device to travel back in time and collect the Infinity Stones, thus preventing Thanos' Snap.
But Kronos' intentions are anything but admirable. The theory further suggests that once Thanos' snap is reversed, Kronos will reveal himself to be the true villain of the film and a possible Grandfather vs. Grandson battle could ensue.
The theorist further suggests that little clues like the color of the Avenger's Endgame logo —- purple and transparent — seems to hint at Kronos as his colors are the same.
