Lady Gaga Video Confuses Fans

Lady Gaga has fans perplexed with her latest Instagram video.

In the black and white clip shared on Tuesday, the pop star faces the camera while pushing a button off screen. The image turns to black, as though the singer had turned the video off. The footage repeats on a loop, with no music or sound effects accompanying the scene.

Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta) has been teasing fans about potential new music since the new year began. In January, the Grammy winner shared a photo of herself in the studio, surrounded by musical instruments while wearing sky-high platform boots and sunglasses. It's been a while since Gaga released new music, with the photograph sending fans into a meltdown.

This week's brief clip confused fans, with many expecting the video to preview the 37-year-old's seventh album.

"GAGA! You tricked me," commented @amillyano. "I thought this was gonna be a snippet of something."

"Child I was waiting for the sound to start," said Vanessa Vanjie Mateo. "I was about to exit out and refresh."

"The quickness I went for that volume button," wrote Trey Pasq.

"I'm so devastated it's silent," said Austin Spindler.

"Is lg7 coming this year?" asked Petro.

"This video literally has no sound and I'm crazy about it!" commented faelz. "I'm shaking, release this album NOOOOOW!!!"

Newsweek has reached out to Lady Gaga for comment via email.

The pop star's last solo album, Chromatica, came out in 2020. The next year, she released an album of duets with the late Tony Bennett, Love for Sale.

A few weeks after posting the studio photo, Gaga shared a short clip in a recording booth, with the footage causing a similar uproar among her "little monsters" (fans).

"Stop teasing us!!! We can't handle it," wrote one follower, while another declared: "WE ARE READY."

Fans began to speculate that the next album will be a tribute to Prince, who died in 2016 at the age of 57.

In February, Gaga shared a selfie, rocking a leather jacket and sunglasses, that was taken in a vehicle. The post was captioned: "Sexy never left."

The singer made the comment during an interview in 2006 when asked about Justin Timberlake's single "SexyBack."

"For whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!" Prince once said, according to Vanity Fair.

Gaga was a fan of the "Purple Rain" singer, even though he accused her of purchasing her 2016 Billboard Woman of the Year win.

On X (formerly Twitter), Prince reposted a letter from a Billboard employee claiming Gaga bought the award, although there was no evidence that the letter was legitimate.

The incident doesn't seem to have affected Gaga's love for Prince, with the singer posting a social media tribute to him following his death.
