Paws up, Little Monsters—Lady Gaga is returning to the Super Bowl and this time she's the headliner.
Lady Gaga—Mother Monster to her "little monster" fans—has confirmed she will play the coveted Super Bowl halftime show in February, via a tweet late Thursday night.
Referencing her new song "Perfect Illusion," she wrote:
Rumors linking Gaga to the slot first surfaced earlier in September when Billboard reported that organizers were impressed by her powerful performance of the national anthem at the 2016 Super Bowl in February.
Gaga is set to release her latest studio album, Joanne , on October 21, marking her first solo release in three years. (She released a duet album, Cheek to Cheek , with Tony Bennett in 2014.)
The pop star follows in the footsteps of the 2016 headliners, Coldplay (who had assistance from guest stars Beyoncé and Bruno Mars), Katy Perry and Madonna. The Super Bowl achieves an upward of 100 million viewers each year and can lead to a hefty record sales boost for halftime show performers.
Super Bowl 51 will take place in Houston, Texas, on February 5.
