Las Vegas Mother Begs Daughter Accused of Killing Nail Salon Owner to Hand Herself In

The mother of a Las Vegas woman accused of killing a nail salon owner by running her over in a stolen car has urged the suspect to hand herself in.

Krystal Whipple, 21, has been on the run for more than a week. She is wanted by police in connection to the killing of "Annie" Ngoc Q. Nguyen on the afternoon of December 29.

The Las Vegas Police Department said the suspect went to the nail salon at the 4900 block of West Flamingo Road for a manicure. Officers said she then left the salon after trying to pay for the $35 manicure treatment with a fraudulent credit card, which had been declined.

Whipple then allegedly told Nguyen that she would get cash from her car, before starting to drive away.

Las Vegas Police released surveillance footage of Nguyen jumping on the hood of the vehicle before being dragged underneath. As the car continues to speed away, a man later identified as Nguyen's husband desperately clings onto the side of the suspect's car in an attempt to make it stop.

Nguyen was taken to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, but later died of her injuries.

The suspect's mother has now urged the 21-year-old to come forward as the hunt for her continues.

"You can't run, baby," Sharon Whipple told ABC News. "You cannot run. You have to come forward, baby."

Sharon Whipple also apologized to the victim's family and especially her three children. "I am so sorry that you lost your mom and I couldn't imagine how you feel," she added. "And I hope that you find it in your heart to forgive my daughter and my family."

Lieutenant Ray Spencer, the lead homicide investigator for the Metropolitan Police Department, previously told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the mother is cooperating with police and planned to speak to the media "in an effort to plead for her daughter to turn herself in."

Police are still searching for Whipple and have released a booking photo of the 21-year-old as part of the appeal to the public for help.

"It is important that we get this suspect into custody as the victim's family and this community deserve to have her answer for this horrible crime," Spencer added in a statement.

Police said that the car used in the incident was later found abandoned in a nearby apartment complex. It was found to be a rental car, which had been reported stolen in December, the Associated Press reports.
