Lauren Boebert's Ex-Husband, Jayson, Breaks Silence After Charges

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert's ex-husband has broken his social media silence after being charged in connection with two domestic altercations.

Jayson Boebert was charged over an argument with the Republican congresswoman at a restaurant in Silt, Colorado, on January 6, as well as in connection with a physical fight with their 18-year son that occurred days later.

After the argument at the Miner's Claim restaurant, he was uncooperative with police and had to be forcibly removed from the business, The Associated Press reported, citing an arrest affidavit. He was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal trespass and obstructing a peace officer.

In the other incident, on January 9, Jayson Boebert grabbed a rifle after the teenager called authorities, a separate arrest affidavit said. That led to him being charged with harassment, prohibited use of a weapon and third-degree assault. Lauren Boebert was not present during that fight.

It was reported that Jayson Boebert had called police to the restaurant in Silt after the argument with his ex-wife, saying he was the "victim of domestic violence." She denied allegations that she had punched him.

Jayson Boebert later told The Denver Post that he did not want to press charges against his ex-wife. He also told another outlet that he was telling his ex-wife that he wanted to get back together and it "escalated," adding that he "should have handled it more responsibly."

He has spoken out on social media in the past, including sharing a lengthy post on Facebook in September where he said he took "full responsibility" for his actions that led to the breakdown of the couple's marriage. But he has remained quiet since being charged in connection with the two incidents.

On Saturday, he updated his Facebook profile picture to one of him holding up his baby grandson using one hand.

He also responded to a comment asking whether his arm was "healing up." "Yes, finally," he wrote. It is not clear what the question about his arm is in reference to.

Newsweek has contacted Jayson Boebert for comment via Facebook. The congresswoman's office has also been contacted via email.

Lauren Boebert has previously said that the confrontation with her ex-husband is one of the reasons that she was switching to Colorado's 4th Congressional District from the more competitive 3rd District, avoiding a rematch against Democrat Adam Frisch who nearly beat her in 2022.

"This is a sad situation for all that keeps escalating and another reason I'm moving," she told Newsweek of the confrontation at the Miner's Claim restaurant.

She filed for divorce from Jayson Boebert in May 2023 and it was finalized in October.

In September, she and a date were kicked out of a performance of Beetlejuice after guests complained they were vaping, singing, using phones and causing a disturbance. Boebert initially denied wrongdoing, but later apologized after security footage seemingly showed her vaping and she and her date fondling each other.
