Lakers Rumors: LA's Pitch to Sign Paul George Has Been Revealed

The most talked about part of the N.B.A offseason is about to rise another level as hoop fans and insiders anticipate the beginning of the free agency period. Some superstars who are just getting out of their contracts are looking to sign for big bucks and long-term deals.

Everyone is excited about LeBron James becoming a free agent, but look at this pitch the Los Angeles Lakers are making to Paul George.

Sports Illustrated's Robin Lundberg published a leaked copy of the Lakers' pitch to All-Star forward George on Monday afternoon, which is part of the team's bid to sign him during the upcoming free agency period. The pitch is a poem titled "Two Dreams."

According to Sports Illustrated, the final pitch is a video with voiceover recited "with more of a Jaime Foxx and less Morgan Freeman/Denzel Washington" tone.

The poem consists of the following:

When you were just a kid

In your room

Dreaming from Palmdale

We were dreaming too.

While you dreamt, we built - built for your arrival

And while we dreamt, you built too

Becoming one of the world's greatest.

Life's most powerful dream[s] are the one[s] we realize ourselves.

The ones that turn us into legends.

That kid from Palmdale always knew it

Now the world will, too

George is coming off of a great season for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Acquired by the team in a trade with the Indiana Pacers, George averaged 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 79 games this season for the Thunder.

The 5-time NBA All-Star is from Palmdale, California, where he was the Golden League Most Valuable Player and the Antelope Valley Press Player of the Year at Knight High School.

ESPN will chronicle his journey in a three-part series, titled "Paul George: My Journey." It will debut on Tuesday, June 26 in the 6 p.m. EST edition of SportsCenter.
