Leap Day Deals: Where to Get Free Food

It's the first time in four years, but Leap Year is back again, and courtesy of the holiday, there are plenty of free food and special deals available.

Many of the freebies are exclusive to those rare Leap Day babies, but some allow all diners to get in on the fun of the holiday.

Newsweek compiled a full list of deals below.

Grab Some Free Cake at Milk Bar

For those with a sweet tooth, bakery chain Milk Bar is offering a free full-sized signature Milk Bar Birthday Cake to everyone born on Leap Day.

You'll need a valid ID to get your free birthday treat, but those who don't have a Leap Day birthday can still join in on the festivities. Milk Bar will also be offering its signature Cereal Milk Soft Serve for a lower price of $2.29, around $4 cheaper than its typical price of $7.

The deals are happening at Milk Bar bakeries all across the country, excluding those in the Nordstrom locations in New York City and Bellevue, Washington.

Host a Pizza Party with Papa Murphy's

If you're thinking of having a Leap Day party, or just want something quick and tasty for dinner, Papa Murphy's has you covered.

Those who use the code LEAP24 on Thursday will get 29 percent off on all online orders. The one caveat is that you have to spend at least $20 on your purchase.

"Whether you're in the mood for a Specialty Pizza, such as Cowboy or Signature Pepperoni, or want to customize your own, Papa Murphy's does all the work so you don't have to," a spokesperson for Papa Murphy's told Newsweek.

Wings and Rings is also offering a special Leap Day year for the holiday that only comes around every four years. This year, when you buy 10 wings, you'll get five bonus wings free.

Keep in mind, there's a limit of two orders per customer, and the deal is available for takeout and in-store orders at participating locations only.

Indulge in Some Pasta at Noodles & Company

If pizza and wings aren't your speed, Noodles & Company is also embracing the Leap Day holiday with special deals for rewards members.

Throughout the day, loyalty members can earn 29 percent off all orders of $29 or more.

But Noodles & Company is also celebrating employees this week, with special discounts offered in light of Employee Appreciation Day. Between February 26 and March 3, the pasta fast casual will also offer rewards members 15 percent off all catering packages.

The offer is available online only, using the code APPRECIATE15 at checkout.

After your pasta, pizza or chicken wing feast, you can also head over to Jeremiah's Italian Ice, as the dessert chain is hosting a family friendly 90s themed Leap Day event with Ices and Gelatis priced at just 96 cents for all J-List rewards members.

"In a year when we gain a day, we're taking Leap Day to take a look back at where Jeremiah's has sprung forth from," Michael Keller, CEO of Jeremiah's Italian Ice, said in a statement. "Leap by leap, we've shared countless moments of joy with our guests through the years and now we're celebrating in our communities with some froggy fun."

Even More Desserts To Celebrate Leap Day

The sugar will keep on flowing at Insomnia Cookies, as the national cookie chain also looks to entice its customers with some major Leap Day deals.

You can score an extra cookie with any six or 12-pack purchase all week until March 3.

And you'll be able to get something even more extra if you are one of the few with a Leap Day birthday. Insomnia Cookies said it will throw these diners an "epic birthday party in-store" with six free Classic cookies, birthday decor and party hats when you show your ID.

Insomnia Cookies said that is "a cookie for every year you missed plus two for good measure."
