Lilly Singh, Other Celebs Will Miss Chrissy Teigen From Twitter: 'She Made Me Feel Seen'

Celebrities on Twitter expressed support and regret after model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen voluntarily left the social platform on Wednesday.

"It's time for me to say goodbye," Teigen wrote in a series of tweets before deleting her account. "This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that's the right time to call something."

She said that the social platform had altered her online persona by making her feel pained and worried about "pissing people off."

"Live well, tweeters," she said in her final tweet. "Please know all I ever cared about was you!!!"

In response, comedian Lilly Singh wrote, "Also, once I was at a party and I was a loner and felt so out of place. One of the only people who made me feel comfortable was Chrissy Teigen. She joked with me. She was warm towards me. She made me feel seen. Twitter ain't it. Try real life."

Soap opera actress Nancy Lee Grahn wrote, "I've the fastest blocker finger in town & a respectable yet a smidgen of #chrissyteigen's followers. I've blocked thousands & now have a delightful interchange with my twitter friends. Had she hired a professional blocker & enjoyed the many that enjoy her, she'd still be with us."

Actress Rebecca Metz wrote, "Whatever you need to do to take care of yourself."

Actress Suzy Nakamura wrote, "Sending you nothing but love! Everything you did here added good to this world, and you may never know how many people you helped, so thank you!"

Actress Ever Carradine wrote, "I will miss your incredible, funny, smart, fearless voice on this cesspool of a site. Take care of yourself and we'll all be here if you choose to come back."

Comedian Matt Rife wrote, "I'm so happy Chrissy Teigen quit Twitter- this place is horrendous for your mental health. In the entertainment industry, before you reach a certain level of success, you are "forced" to be on every social trend. I can't wait to be able to afford to quit the horrible app lol".

TV writer Amanda Deibert wrote, "I am so sorry that society always wants to 'punish' women who are successful and intelligent and who share their opinions."

Over the past two years, Teigen has struggled with the attention and drama associated with her presence on the social media platform.

In October 2019, Teigen railed against QAnon conspiracy theorists who accused her and husband, musician John Legend, of being pedophiles. The conspiracy theorists circulated a crudely doctored image that falsely placed her and Legend at the infamous island getaway of now-deceased billionaire and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

She later said that she had deleted 60,000 tweets and blocked over 1 million users in an attempt to shield herself from the conspiracy theorists.

In May 2020, she announced her brief departure from Twitter after food writer Alison Roman called her cooking-related Instagram account a "content farm."

In November 2020, the model admitted that she sometimes struggled with being nice to people on the platform. She called journalist Marco Giannangeli an "absolute piece of s**t" for criticizing British royal Meghan Markle's essay detailing her miscarriage.

"I'm not tweeting much because I'm honestly in a bit of a grief depression hole," Teigen tweeted at the time.

On February 23, Teigen publicly asked the official account of Democratic President Joe Biden to unfollow her on Twitter. She had initially requested that Biden follow her during his inauguration. However, she said that being one of about a dozen people followed by his account made her feel less able to "flourish" on the microblogging platform.
