An unknown number of lions may be roaming around Kenya's largest city, the BBC reports.
One lioness, two of her cubs and possibly other lions escaped from the Nairobi National Park, situated about four miles to the south of Nairobi, Kenya's capital. Two other lions are believed to have returned to the park on their own, the BBC reports .
Some residents of Kibera, a slum to the city's south, are not happy about how long it is taking the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to round up the errant lions. Representatives of the KWS are telling citizens to avoid confronting the lions themselves, instead urging them to contact authorities with reports of sightings.
In 2012, locals killed six lions who escaped from the park after the big cats killed their livestock. The deaths sparked an international debate over conservation. At the time, there were only 2,000 lions left in the country.
