We haven't heard much from former Journey lead singer Steve Perry in more than two decades. But now he's back, releasing a new single that's part of an upcoming album.

The Internet has given a warm welcome to Perry's new song, "No Erasin," making the former rock star a trending topic once again. Perry's new album, "Traces," will be released October 5, 2018, but he has stirred buzz with the single release.

You can listen to the song at the bottom of this story. The single is now available on iTunes and the album is available for preorder.

In 2014 Perry returned to the stage for the first time in two decades, performing with a California alternative rock band. Perry left Journey, the successful America rock band known for hits like "Don't Stop Believin'" in 1998, saying he got "burned out." Journey was inducted into the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame and Perry participated in acceptance speeches but didn't perform with the band.

Perry's last show with Journey was in February, 1987.

He said on his personal website that he left Journey and sat out of music for year because he "wasn't feeling it anymore," and "barely even listen to music."

"The truth is, that I thought music had run its course in my heart," Perry said on his site. "I'd had an amazing time in an amazing band, and then the chance to express myself as a solo artist too. But I had to be honest with myself, and in my heart, I knew I just wasn't feeling it anymore."

But now he's back as a solo artist with his first new music in 25 years.

"Putting 30 years into 10 songs has certainly been an emotional experience for me," Perry said in a statement. "I started writing and recording these songs with the creative freedom that I was the only one who would ever hear them. Along the way, I rediscovered my love for music. Each track represents traces of my past, but is also a hopeful look into the future. I invite you to listen with an open heart."

Perry's new album was produced by Perry, alongside co-producer Thom Flowers.
