Lonely Disabled Duck Befriending Puppies Melts Hearts: 'She Is One of Them'

A disabled duck was struggling to make friends after being excluded by all the other ducks at a farm due to her condition—until her owner introduced her to their new puppies who instantly fell in love with her.

In a post shared to TikTok earlier this month, under the username @almaslife_, the duck, Honey, which appears to have a wry neck, can be seen bonding with the small puppies, who look incredibly excited to meet their new friend.

The video's text overlay reads: "With her disability, the other ducks don't really want nothing to do with her so she [spends] most of her time alone. Till today, when we introduced her to the puppies. She was so gentle with them. She couldn't hide her excitement. The puppies loved her."

Newsweek reached out to @almaslife_ for comment via TikTok chat. We could not verify the details of the case.

While dogs are inherently hunting creatures, this doesn't mean that you can't train them to be around birds of any kind.

According to an article published from The Spruce Pets, the first thing to do when bringing a new pet bird into a house with an already established dog, or vice versa, is to bring them into contact several times for a few minutes until they become comfortable in each other's presence. Once they are, you can then increase socialization time.

It's even better if you choose a neutral area for their meetings that neither of them will consider its territory and try to protect. Then simply offer them a reward for each positive interaction and always keep them supervised.
