'Love Is Blind' Star Bartise Says Showdown With Nancy's Family 'Was Crazy'

Love Is Blind stars Bartise Bowden and Nancy Rodriguez have opened up to Newsweek about the tense scenes from their wedding day.

Bowden, 27, and Rodriguez, 32, starred in the third season of the Netflix dating show and got engaged during their time on the series, but ultimately didn't end up getting married.

The final Love Is Blind wedding episode was released on the streaming site on November 9 and confirmed the fate of the couple, even though fans had already predicted that the pair wouldn't tie the knot thanks to a clue in an earlier trailer.

After Bowden said "I don't" at the altar, things got very heated as he tried to explain his reasoning to Rodriguez, but he was continually interrupted by Rodriguez's brother, Steve, and her mom.

It was then that the scene, which had been shown in a teaser at the end of the first batch of Love Is Blind episodes, of Steve looking very unhappy with Bowden was aired, with him saying angrily: "I'm trying to understand! Bringing us here to waste our motherf****** time!"

Opening up about the moment things came to a head between him and Rodriguez's loved ones, Bowden told Newsweek: "I was very frustrated. And what's not shown on camera is that I was up there telling Nancy, 'I owe you an explanation, I don't owe anyone else here an explanation.'"

Bowden went on to explain that he and Rodriguez moved outside of the wedding venue to try and have a discussion, adding: "Next thing you know her mom is in my face, and then the brother comes, and then my groomsmen come to my defense and then we have this whole theatrical fight happening on what was supposed to be the greatest day of Nancy and I's lives."

"It was crazy watching that back and it was crazy living it. They did a good job of depicting exactly what happened," he added.

Rodriguez, who remained very calm during the scenes, also spoke to Newsweek about the showdown with her family, saying that after Bowden said: "I don't," her "heart was completely shattered."

"I feel like I blacked out," she said, adding: "I think it was good for me to keep my composure...my family were the ones who fought for me when I couldn't fight for myself."

During the Love Is Blind reunion episode, which was released on Netflix in conjunction with the wedding episode, Bowden and Rodriguez confirmed that they aren't dating or pursuing a romance together.

Bowden was even put on the spot as Rodriguez accused him of having a "tall, blonde" girl by his side the very next day after their wedding, something which he wasn't keen to discuss further.

Love Is Blind Seasons 1- 3 are available to stream on Netflix.
