Maddie Ziegler Says She No Longer Talks to Abby Lee Miller

Professional dancer Maddie Ziegler said she no longer speaks to her former coach, Abby Lee Miller.

Ziegler was asked about Miller's medical state Sunday following the dance instructor's hospitalization for a thyroid condition and whether the pair remained in touch. "We don't keep in contact," Ziegler, 15, told Us Weekly Sunday. "But I wish her the best."

Miller served as Ziegler's teacher at the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) in Pittsburgh, which subsequently became the backdrop of the defunct Lifetime reality program. The series ended after Season 7, a period in time when Miller was readying herself for a prison stint for bankruptcy fraud. Ziegler, at the time, had left during Season 6 alongside younger sister Mackenzie Ziegler. The pair's relationship has since become strained.

Miller has addressed her relationship with Maddie before. The famed instructor said she once considered Ziegler to be like a daughter to her, but she retracted her initial sentiment by suggesting "that's not the kid I raised."

"I don't think had she not been in my studio, she would be where she is today," Miller, 51, said in Lifetime's Dance Moms: Abby Lee Tells All special in July 2017. "I can confidently say that. I'm not gonna say that I 'made' anybody, I didn't make her, her mom and dad created her, but I certainly added my two cents in."

Ziegler has come a long way since Dance Moms. While on the series, she made a name for herself as the featured dancer in pop singer Sia's music videos, including "Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart." Since this, she's earned a guest judge spot on So You Think You Can Dance in 2016. She nabbed a starring role Leap! and in the Naomi Watts-led flick, The Book of Henry.

"Leaving Dance Moms was a hard decision to make, but it was getting too stressful," Ziegler told Seventeen in 2016. "Now, I feel like I'm so free."
