In the decades since she launched her hugely successful pop career, Madonna has earned a reputation for speaking her mind.
On Thursday, the star let one of her impersonators do the talking, reposting a video of "Madonna Masquerade" singing, "Oh my God, just shut the f*** up," in response to a disparaging comment about plastic surgery.
The comment—which read: "hahahahaha u should be worried about ur face lifts not my spelling"—sat front and center in the Instagram video as the impersonator mouthed the words over a dance beat.
The real Madonna shared the clip of the impersonator singing with her 16 million followers on Instagram, adding the caption: "Some Really Good Advice........🤓 @madonnamasquerade."
The impersonator posted her clip on May 30. It is not clear whether the plastic surgery comment was aimed at Madonna or the impersonator—but, a day earlier, Madonna Masquerade had posted on Instagram to correct the spelling of another message apparently from the same account. The earlier message read: "TO OLD Go away."
Newsweek has contacted a representative for Madonna for comment.
On Friday, Madonna Masquerade shared a post from an outlet that had mistakenly reported that it was the singer herself in the video.
Reacting to the headline "Madonna Responds To Facelift Rumors," the impersonator wrote: "STOP IT!!!" along with a series of laughing emojis.
Madonna, 62, has never confirmed or denied that she has had cosmetic surgery.
Following speculation in January 2019 that she had had her posterior enhanced, the Desperately Seeking Susan star shared a photo of herself with the caption: "Desperately Seeking No Ones Approval... And Entitled to Free Agency Over My Body Like Everyone Else!!"
Last weekend, Madonna shared a video of her son David Banda, 15, impersonating musician Freddie Mercury as he performed the Queen hit "Another One Bites the Dust."
Wearing a jeweled armband, a bracelet and a wig, the teenager gripped a microphone as he belted out portions of the lyrics during the living room performance.
Late last month, Madonna shared footage of David walking around their home in a Mae Couture silk dress—an experience that he said he found "freeing."
Madonna adopted David from Malawi in southeastern Africa in 2006 when he was 13 months old. Daughter Mercy James, 15, and twins Stella and Estere, eight, were later adopted from Malawi.
The star is also mother to Lourdes Leon, 24, from her relationship with Carlos Leon, and Rocco Ritchie, 20, from her marriage to Guy Ritchie.
Opening up about her relationship with David in 2019, Madonna told British Vogue: "What he has more than anything is focus and determination. I'm pretty sure he got it from me."
She continued: "I feel like he gets me; he has more of my DNA than any of my children so far. Let's see what happens—it's still early days for everyone."
