The Making of 'Loki': 10 Things We Learned From the Behind-the-Scenes Show on Disney+

Now that Loki has finished on Disney+ fans face a long wait to see the Trickster God again in his second season.

Viewers have the chance to reminisce on the past season with the release of the latest episode of Marvel Studios ASSEMBLED, which is all about the Loki series. Narrated by Tom Hiddleston, it features interviews with the cast and crew of the show, revealing behind-the-scenes details and secrets.

We hear from the likes of Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant and the director Kate Herron.

Over the hour-long episode, which has also done recaps of Wandavision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we learn plenty of interesting facts about Loki. Here are the ten biggest revelations from the third episode of Marvel Studios ASSEMBLED.

Tom Hiddleston's American Thor audition

Many people know Hiddleston initially auditioned for the role of Thor in his opening movie of the MCU in 2011. Footage of him wielding the hammer has been shared before but, for the first time, we hear what his interpretation of Thor's voice is.

Short screen test footage shows Hiddleston on screen reading Thor's lines but using an American accent. This is very different to Chris Hemsworth's eventual performance which used Shakespearean-like English.

Loki has had less than 2 hours of screen time in the MCU

Kevin R. Wright, co-executive producer of Loki, reveals that the team did the math and overall, across his 10 years in MCU movies, Hiddleston's Loki only appeared onscreen for less than two hours.

He more than makes up for this in Loki the series, as the total run time across the six episodes is 280 minutes and 17 seconds.

Owen Wilson knows Shakespeare

Wilson makes his Marvel debut as Mobius M. Mobius in Loki, and reveals a polite exchange he had with Hiddleston when he was asked if he'd ever played Hamlet. He jokes about how he has never been asked by Ben Stiller if he'd played Hamlet either.

He does, however, confirm that if he were to take on a Shakespearean role, it would be The Two Gentlemen of Verona. He can even quote the opening line of the play, and does so for Hiddleston in the behind-the-scenes footage.

Rocket Raccoon makes a cameo

Blink and you'll miss this one. At approximately 24 minutes and 51 seconds into the Marvel Studios ASSEMBLED episode, Guardians of the Galaxy character Rocket Raccoon can be seen.

He's featured as one of the many aliens captured by the Time Variance Authority and is waiting in a bureaucratic line. The image is taken from pre-production artwork but could be a suggestion that this character was going to make a cameo appearance at one point.

Dune inspired Time Doors

The Time Doors were a big feature across Loki. The TVA's portal technology could take them to any point in time and were used often.

Additional VFX supervisor Luke McDonald confirms that they mimicked scenes from David Lynch's Dune. This led to 150 different designs of the Time Door before they eventually chose the right one.

Sylvie Lushton, aka Enchantress confirmation

Lady Loki arrived in Episode 2, played by Sophia Di Martino, but the creators of the show confirmed that the basis of the character is more in line with her actual namesake Sylvie.

Previously thought to just be a subtle reference, director Herron confirmed that Di Martino's character is more in line with the comic book character Sylvie Lushton, the hero known as Enchantress, than she is Lady Loki from the comic books.

Alligator Loki

While there were many variations of Loki seen across the series, including Classic Loki played by Richard E. Grant, Alligator Loki caught many by surprise.

Herron recalled having to ask her VFX team to create a handsome alligator with beautiful eyes. In the end, the designers based the look of Alligator Loki off of a real-life support alligator called Wally.

He Who Remains scene could have been longer

Episode 6 features a long confrontation between Sylvie, Loki and the man who'd been behind the curtain, He Who Remains. Their conversation in his office takes up the bulk of the finale as he explains the construction of time, but the Marvel Studios ASSEMBLED episode shows many clips from deleted scenes with dialogue not seen in the last episode of Loki.

Jonathan Majors, who plays He Who Remains, is seen telling Loki and Sylvie he's not made exploding chairs to trap them, as well as telling them that he is literally everywhere at once.

He Who Remains character influence

Majors also reveals that his interpretation of his character is an amalgamation of many classic characters. He says He Who Remains is a combination of The Wizard of Oz, Sunset Boulevard, Citizen Kane, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

His costume is also made up of different garments from different points in time. The cape is from the Victorian era, the shoes from Genghis Khan and the pants from Mongolia.

Confirmation of Kang the Conquerer

Fans have speculated about the real identity of He Who Remains and the characters were careful to never mention a certain name during Season 1 of Loki. But Tom Hiddleston confirms what everyone was thinking and reveals that He Who Remains is in fact Kang. He says he's so curious to see what Jonathan Majors does in the future with the character.

Majors says his future portrayals of Kang will be different than his initial portrayal of He Who Remains.
