Police in Florida have arrested a man they accuse of making threats to kidnap singer Lana Del Rey.

The man was carrying a knife when he was arrested Friday near Orlando's Amway Center, where the singer was scheduled to perform, officials said.

He has been named by police as Michael Hunt, 43, and faces charges of aggravated stalking with a credible threat, and attempted kidnapping with a weapon.

Orlando Police Department said officers received a tip-off on Friday, and arrested Hunt a few hundred yeard from the center, where 8,000 fans watched the singer perform.

"When he was taken into custody, Hunt was in possession of tickets to the Lana Del Rey performance and a knife," a statement said.

Police said that Hunt had made "cryptic and threatening" posts about Del Rey on social media.

According to the statement, at no point did Hunt come into contact with Del Rey, whose real name is Elizabeth Grant.

"On Friday, OPD determined this was a credible threat and worked swiftly to ensure the safety of everyone involved and of everyone who attended the show," police added.

Hunt is being held in custody in Orange County Jail.
