A video of a bulldog which only responds to Spanish phrases is going viral online, after its new owner finally realised why he didn't respond to English.
A proud dog owner, who calls himself girthbrooks1994, explained he was given the dog for free.
But it seems it took him a while to figure out why his new pet didn't obey any commands.
Brooks captured the moment the penny dropped after learning a few Spanish words to test out—seeing the English bulldog finally respond.
The clip has since gone viral, amassing more than five million views, with Brooks' TikTok account now dedicated to his pet.
Brooks' bio says: "Proud Owner of The Worlds Famous Spanish Bulldog Señor Snax."
In the now-viral video, Brooks says: "These motherf****** gave me this goddamn dog for free, only to find out it speaks Spanish. Come here Snax!"
He proceeds to issue some commands, including "dame la mano" and "siéntate," which mean give me your hand and sit down.
The dog lover, from Hobbs, New Mexico, has shared multiple videos as he learns new Spanish commands, issued with his thick southern drawl.
Some of his favorite phrases, which have become a hit with fans, is "bien boy," "dame la mano," and "tacuache."
He later added: "He's a bien boy and very spoiled. He's a blessing."
Commenting on the video, Diablo Pablo thought: "It's even cooler you took the time to learn the commands in Spanish."
Emberg333 thought: "English bulldog? No. Spanish bulldog."
Llaila! Commented: "I love how he's not even tryna teach him English he just gon learn Spanish."
While Krakish K wrote: "Most hilarious thing ever, hope ya'll won't be lost in translation."
While this fellow pet owner admitted: "I love you for trying! Bien boy, I will be using that on my dogs. Bien boy."
But he's not the only one who inherited a dog which only understood Spanish without realizing it, after HilaryAsher wondered why her parents foster dog didn't respond to basic commands.
Asher shared a clip to TikTok, saying: "My parents are fostering a dog that only responds to her name, but no other commands so I tried something."
Asher films herself calling the chihuahua, named Amelia, saying "come here," before switching to "sientarse."
The phrase means sit down in Spanish, and Amelia immediately obeys the command.
"Oh my god the dog understands Spanish, no wonder why she didn't know what the word sit meant in English. She has no idea, she speaks Spanish," Asher gasps.
More than 18 million people have watched the lightbulb moment, with Kayler Dinger commenting: "Imagine having to learn Spanish for your dog."
Chris Young advised: "Make sure to tell the adoption agency so they can put it in her profile."
While Fluffy added: "Omg I've never seen a dog understand Spanish."
