Man With Hangover Stumbles Into Kitchen, Greeted by Huge Python

A man has shared the shocking moment he went into his kitchen to be greeted by a huge scrub python that had slithered its way into his home.

"Honestly I was a little hungover when I saw it so it took me a moment to process," Bryn, who lives in North Queensland, Australia, told Newsweek.

In a picture, the snake is draped over the kitchen counter next to the toaster and various cleaning products.

Of course, it isn't too much of a surprise to come across a snake in Australia, where there are approximately 170 species of land snakes, with around 100 being venomous.

Scrub pythons, scientifically known as Morelia amethistina, are native to Northern Australia, and are actually one of the world's largest and longest snakes.

Known to grow up to 20-25 feet in length, their thick and muscular make-up makes them instantly recognizable.

They are arboreal, meaning they live and hunt in trees, and are excellent climbers. They feed on small mammals, birds, and reptiles, using constriction to subdue prey before swallowing it whole.

While encounters with these pythons in residential areas are not unheard of, Bryn's experience stands out due to the snake's conspicuous presence in his kitchen. Thankfully, he is a fan of the reptiles. "I love snakes so I was quite thrilled to see it," he said.

Last week, the internet was shocked when a teen was woken by a 6-foot python slithering over his body in Hervey Bay, Australia. Nearby, on Friday afternoon a child was greeted with a rather unwanted Christmas gift when he found a deadly snake slithering underneath the tree.

Earlier this week, a year after finding the snake in his kitchen, Bryn shared the picture of the shocking discovery on Reddit where people have shared their reactions.

"That's awesome! I love snakes but even I would've had a heart attack after finding this big boy in my house," said Redditor plutoforprez.

While hrdst said: "He looks like he's asking you if you want him to make you some toast."

Fellow Australian SkaterKangaroo wrote: "Accurate representation of what foreigners think an average day in Australia is like."

"I thought reddit would be a great place to share because it shows the true rawness of Australian nature," said Bryn.

Despite liking snakes, Bryn had to call in reinforcements and get a snake catcher to come and help remove the snake from his kitchen and release it back into its natural habitat.
