Man Offers Bag Of Marijuana For McDonald's Order In Drive-Thru Line

A Florida man was arrested for allegedly trying to pay for his order at McDonald's with a bag of marijuana, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department. He wasn't arrested on his initial attempt, but rather when he circled back and tried it a second time at the fast food restaurant.

Port St. Lucie PD officials said Anthony Andrew Gallagher, 23, tried to barter a bag of weed for his late-night cravings around 2 a.m. Once the drive-thru worker refused his offer, he drove away. The staff called the local police, who responded to the restaurant to take their report.

However, Gallagher must've still been hungry in the early morning as he returned to the McDonald's drive-thru, only to get confronted this time by the police still on the property.

A PSLPD officer got Gallagher's attention, eventually talking to him and detecting a huge waft of weed smell rolling from the vehicle.

When police found about 11 grams of marijuana on Gallagher and asked about his weed-for-food proposal, Gallagher said he "did it as a joke."

Here is the excerpt from the Port St. Lucie social media page.

"PSLPD arrests 23 year old man after he tries to barter Marijuana for food at the McDonald's drive-thru.

On 12/16/18 at around 2:00 am, PSLPD was called to the McDonald's located in the 3100 block of SW PSL Blvd. The McDonald's worker told police that a man in a Pontiac 4dr drove through the drive-thru of the McDonald's trying to exchange a baggie of Marijuana for food. The McDonald's worker refused and the car drove off.

Once on scene police took the description of the suspect and remained in the area. A short time later the suspect again went through the drive-thru of the McDonald's. PSLPD officer made contact with the suspect and noticed a heavy odor of Marijuana emitting from the car. Police found approximately 11 grams of Marijuana on the suspect. The suspect told police that he did offer Marijuana in exchange for food but that he did so as a joke.

The suspect was arrested for possession of Marijuana under 20 grams and DUI and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking."

Port St. Lucie is a popular town on the east coast of Southern Florida, nearly two hours north of Miami.
