Margot Robbie Hates This Interview Question: 'How Dare Some Old Guy Dictate What I Can and Can't Do'

Margot Robbie Hates Being Asked About Pregnancy

It's no secret that participating in interviews—whether it be print, online, television, radio or podcast—comes with the role of being a famous movie star. However, Margot Robbie has admitted she's peeved by answering one interview question, in particular, regarding when she'll get pregnant.

Robbie, 28, is making rounds with the press in promotion for Mary Queen of Scots. The film, which also stars fellow Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan, follows Mary Stuart (Ronan) as she returns to Scotland and attempts to overthrow her cousin Elizabeth I, Queen of England (Robbie).

Elizabeth I, in fact, never married or birthed children. Unlike Elizabeth I, Robbie said "I do" to British director Tom Ackerley in December 2016. The couple, however, has not had children as of yet. Taking Elizabeth I's past into consideration and Robbie's own situation, some are likely curious to know when the Australian actress is planning to start a family with Ackerley.

Robbie opened up about this issue when speaking to The Radio Times on Monday. In doing so, she admitted how "unfortunately, it's a conversation we're still having."

"It made me really angry," she said. "How dare some old guy dictate what I can and can't do when it comes to motherhood or my own body?"

Margot added, "I got married and the first question in almost every interview is, 'Babies? When are you having one?' I'm so angry that there's this social contract. You're married, now have a baby. Don't presume. I'll do what I'm going to do."

Robbie isn't the only celebrity dealing with pregnancy speculation from the press. On Wednesday, newly married singer Miley Cyrus dismissed rumors that she and husband Liam Hemsworth were having a baby. Rumors initially surfaced after Daily Mail Celebrity shared an article via Twitter, tweeting: "Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth 'are expecting their first child together.'"

Daily Mail's article included comment on Cyrus's apparent pregnancy from an "unnamed source," who confirmed she's happy to be pregnant. "Miley's over the moon because she's carrying Liam's baby... It's a girl, which is what [they] hoped for," the alleged source apparently said.

I’m not “ Egg-xpecting” but it’s “Egg-celent” to hear everyone is so “ Happy For Us” .... we’re happy for us too! “Egg-cited” for this next chapter in our lives.... Now , can everyone leave me alone and go back to staring at an egg. pic.twitter.com/uPya87cDSz

Cyrus denied all pregnancy rumors. She tweeted a picture on Wednesday using the viral egg that overshadowed Kylie Jenner's record for the most liked photo on Instagram. "I'm not 'Egg-xpecting' but it's 'Egg-celent' to hear everyone is so 'Happy For Us'.... we're happy for us too," she wrote. "'Egg-cited' for this next chapter in our lives....Now, can everyone leave me alone and go back to staring at an egg."

In October 2018, TMZ had incorrectly reported Dakota Johnson was expecting a child with her boyfriend, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. However, the Fifty Shades Freed actress promptly denied such speculation when visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show a few days later. The only thing I'm pregnant with is a lot of really good ideas. But not any babies," she said.
