Marjorie Taylor Greene Rages Over Biden's Social Media

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene raged over President Joe Biden's social media use in a series of posts to X Monday morning.

Greene, a Georgia Republican, is a staunch critic of President Biden's policies, frequently knocking him on issues ranging from the U.S.-Mexico border to U.S. aid for Ukraine. On Monday, she unveiled her latest criticism of the president, criticizing his social media use.

Biden took to social media to call for airlines to allow families to sit together for free on flights without having to pay extra for seats together, a practice that has already been enacted by some airlines.

"You ought to be able to fly with your child – and sit next to them – without paying an additional fee. It's time all airlines offered fee free family seating," he wrote in a post to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

The post sparked ridicule from Greene, who argued he should instead focus on other priorities such as securing the southern border amid an uptick in migrant arrivals.

"What's next? Joe Biden using his power as president to demand kids eat free at all restaurants too? Why don't you do your job and CLOSE THE BORDER instead of pandering for votes!!!" she wrote.

In a separate post, Greene wrote, "Take the POTUS social media accounts away from the 20 year olds that don't understand ANYTHING about business! Lord help us!!"

Newsweek reached out to the White House and Greene's office for comment via email.

Biden's post drew mixed reactions from social media, with some critics also raising questions about whether Biden should be prioritizing family seating over other issues.

"I love Big Government and even I think this is stupid," posted attorney Joel Fleming.

"Unserious proposal from a desperate president. It'd be helpful to have a credible small government party to oppose creeping statism from the left," posted Stephen Haynes, the editor and CEO of The Dispatch.

"Right, b/c this is what's really driving inflation and creating a cost-of-living crisis, not the ~80% increase in the cost of homeownership since Jan '21...," wrote economist E.J. Antoni

Others, however, praised Biden for calling attention to the issue, arguing that parents should not have to pay more to sit with their children.

"Yes. Families should be protected from being forced to pay a sky-high fee just to sit together during a flight. That is why I am working hard to include my Families Fly Together Act in the FAA Reauthorization bill," posted Senator Ed Markey, a Massachusetts Democrat.

"People saying this is an out of touch boutique issue are more out of touch than Biden here. Any time this comes up in meatworld almost everybody thinks this is an especially bad nickel-and-dime (and airline fees in general annoy people)," posted Will Truman, editor-in-chief of Ordinary Times magazine.
