Marjorie Taylor Greene Shares Text to Tucker Carlson Regarding NSA Claims

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has shared a text message she sent to Fox News personality Tucker Carlson following his claim that the National Security Agency (NSA) is spying on him.

Greene, a Republican who represents Georgia's 14th congressional district, took to Twitter on Tuesday to share a screenshot of a message she said she had sent to Carlson.

"I just sent a message to the NSA," Greene tweeted, suggesting the agency was monitoring the communication between her and Carlson.

Greene's message said: "Hi Tucker, reaching out to the NSA to tell them it's illegal to spy on American citizens so I thought the quickest route would be texting you.

"My colleagues and I met about this today. We won't let them get away with this."

"Thank you for being courageous to tell the truth to the American people on your show," Greene wrote. "NSA and FBI you're on notice."

During his prime time Fox News show on Monday, Carlson claimed that a whistleblower inside the NSA had informed him his show was being surveilled by the agency.

"Yesterday, we heard from a whistleblower within the U.S. government reached out to warn us at the NSA, the National Security Agency, is monitoring our electronic communications and is planning to leak them in an attempt to take the show off the air," Carlson said.

In a statement released on Twitter on Tuesday, the NSA denied that Carlson was a target for surveillance or that it was trying to have the Fox News host taken off the airwaves.

"This allegation is untrue. Tucker Carlson has never been an intelligence target of the agency and the NSA has never had any plans to try and take his program off the air," the statement said.

"NSA has a foreign intelligence mission," the agency said. "We target foreign powers to generate insights on foreign activities that could harm the United States. With limited exceptions (e.g. an emergency), NSA may not target a U.S. citizen without a court order that explicitly authorizes the targeting."

Carlson responded to the NSA's denial on Tuesday night, claiming it was a "paragraph of lies." He also pointed to the fact that the NSA statement had not directly denied reading his emails without his permission.

"An entire paragraph of lies written purely for the benefit of the intel community's lackeys at CNN and MSNBC, people they hire with the titles on the screen," Carlson said.

"Last time on the show we made a very straightforward claim, 'NSA has read my private emails without my permission.' That's what we said. Tonight's statement from the NSA does not deny that," he went on.

"Did the Biden administration read my personal email? That's the question that we asked directly to NSA officials when we spoke to them," he added.
