Mark Zuckerberg's Photoshopped Bearded Look Goes Viral

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Mark Zuckerberg recently made waves across social media after a digitally altered image of him sporting a beard went viral, with fans seemingly thirsting over the Meta mogul.

Fans couldn't resist commenting on the new look, which was a digitally altered screenshot from a video Zuckerberg shared on social media on April 18. In the video, Zuck, dressed simply in a blue T-shirt and a gold chain, introduced the latest version of Meta AI to his over 13 million followers.

Unfortunately for him, the announcement was seemingly overshadowed when the altered photo of the CEO with an added beard surfaced on social media, sending fans into a frenzy.

One user hilariously posted on X (formerly Twitter), "I'd zuck him off," while another compared him to Jack Harlow. "You vs the guy she doesn't want you to know about" posted another user, along with a side-by-side of the actual photo vs. the altered, bearded one.

Some fans posted their disappointment upon finding out the image wasn't real, saying things like, "The glow up is fake!?!? Can't trust y'all anymore for anything smh," and "I thought he had got a glow up," alongside a clip of a woman screaming "I hate when people lie. Do not lie!"

Zuckerberg is no stranger to becoming a meme. Back in 2020, he was photographed surfing in Hawaii using a high-tech $12,000 eFoil surfboard while being tailed by security, wearing an excessive amount of white sunscreen on his face. This image also went wild on social media, with Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy jesting, "What's the point of being rich if this is what you look like when you surf?"

Social media was once again rampant with hilarious memes about the photo. "Legend has it that every summer, Mark Zuckerberg (aka the Mime Surfer) attempts to catch a wave and until he does, his restless spirit will wander the earth for all eternity," posted one user alongside a photoshopped image of Zuck wearing a mime costume.

The sunscreen-heavy face led to a barrage of memes comparing the Meta co-founder to various other characters known for their pale faces, like the Joker, Queen Elizabeth I, as well as the beloved Mrs. Doubtfire, whom Robin Williams portrayed smearing her face with cake icing in the iconic comedy.

While Zuckerberg has yet to respond about the viral bearded photo, some fans hope that he will actually opt for a bearded look, responding to the photo by saying, "this is his sign to grow it out," and "Lmfao next thing you kno Zuck pop out with tha beard fr. 🤣💀"
