'The Masked Singer' Revealed a Clue That Confirms The Bee's Identity

Last night's episode of the Masked Singer (Episode 7) was another night filled with silly performances and head-scratching clues. While the Alien was unmasked as Latoya Jackson, that wasn't the biggest revelation of the evening. During the show, a major clue was given about the Bee that pretty much confirms her identity. It involves a group of small children, a close friend, and a 10 time Grammy award-winning artist.

Up to this point, the internet has held onto a handful of favorite guesses for the Bee's identity — the most popular guesses being Tina Turner, Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight and Anita Baker. While we had one performer we were leaning towards, there was just enough reasonable doubt to keep us from jumping fully abroad any of these trains. One key clue provided during episode 7, however, left us with no more room for doubt. So here it is.

As with every episode, a video clip was shown before the Bee's performance giving insight about the performer's identity. The clues seemed aimed at tripping viewers up as they referenced words or titles of songs by the various performers mentioned above. Towards the end of the video, we were finally given one clue that, at the very least, eliminated one contender. Before the Bee began her song, she let the audience know it was written by a "close friend." The Bee then launched into Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It" and subsequently removed the Queen of Rock from the contenders.

With Tina out of the way, there are still a number of ladies who could fit the bill. Last week, singers like Patti Labelle and Anita Baker were both put into consideration due to the bakeware and southern cooking clues. Patti Labelle is well known for her southern cooking and baked goods line — particularly her peach cobbler which was featured on Oprah and fits nicely with the many peach references in the Bee's clues. Add to it the marmalade references and she seems like a shoe-in. Of course, Anita Baker's name has been mentioned repeatedly due to the nature of her surname and Gladys Knight's has been a favorite guess for her title, "Empress of Soul." So basically, we're back at square one.

Well, just when we were losing hope we'd ever learn the identity of the Bee, the judges managed to ask the perfect question -- one that ultimately confirms who this mystery woman is. Before her segment ended, Robin Thicke asked the Bee if she had any Grammys. Her response was "Actually, I have 10. "

Well, of course, everyone and their brother began immediately googling how many Grammys their favorite celebrity guess had, or a list of female singers with 10 Grammys. If you did this, chances are the results weren't very satisfying. A query for Tina Turner turns up 8 Grammys, Patti Labelle - 2 Grammys, Anita Baker - 8 Grammys, Gladys Knight - 7 Grammys, Dionne Warwick - 5 Grammys and Diana Ross, none! So what's happening here? Is the Bee lying???

While the Bee's answer is correct, it isn't straightforward. Most people would search for Grammys won by a solo performer, the Bee's Grammys include those won solo and while in a group. Once you put these clues together, only one option makes any sense for the identity of the Bee. The performer with 10 Grammys is Gladys Knight with 7 personal and 3 while recording with the Pips. Tie in the fact that Tina Turner and Gladys Knight have been close friends ever since Turner gave Knight a make-over at age 16, and the clue about the birthday party where Gladys and the Pips got their start, and there is no one else who could fit the bill.

Mystery Solved! Gladys Knight is the Bee and nothing can move us from that position.
