Here is everything you need to know about McConaughey's children.

How many children does Matthew McConaughey have?

McConaughey married wife Alves in June 2012, they first met in 2006 and got engaged on Christmas Day in 2011.

The couple live in Austin, Texas, and they share three children, son Levi, 13, daughter Vida, 11, and son Livingston, 8.

McConaughey, Alves, and their three kids all got dressed to impress for Sing 2's premiere, which took place at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.

The actor was so delighted to bring his family along he shared an image on social media, and wrote in the caption: "Family affair at #Sing2 premiere."

Alves did the same, sharing a selfie with McConaughey and a picture of him with their two sons on the red carpet.

In the caption she gushed: "The 3 most important male presence in my life... what a blessing to see the boys so big!! [sic]."

In his memoir Greenlights, McConaughey shared how he knew from a young age that he wanted to be a father.

In an excerpt shared by Good Morning America, he wrote: "In my 8-year-old mind, what I noticed at that time, was every man that I had said 'sir' to -- the common denominator was they were all fathers, and I remember saying, 'That's when you've made it. That's when you've succeeded in life, when you become a father.'

"From that day on it was very clear to me the one thing I knew I always wanted to be."

The actor has previously spoken about how his experiences with his own father James has influenced how he helps support his kids.

Speaking with Anderson Cooper in October 2020, McConaughey reflected: "My father had instilled a lot of values in me, but he was still alive. So subconsciously, we have a crutch that, 'Oh, if things get really tough, my dad had my back. He's going to catch me if I fall.'

"He passed away, all of a sudden it's like, 'No, he's not there to catch you if you fall. So the things that he taught you, you better quit half-a**ing them and actually have the courage to enact them.'"

McConaughey said that he wanted to instil the same values he learned from his father in his three children, but that he aimed to do it in "different ways" to how the patriarch had with him.

Sing 2 is out in theatres across the U.S. on December 22.
