Matty Healy Finally Reacts to Taylor Swift Alleged 'TTPD' 'Diss Track'

Matty Healy has finally reacted to Taylor Swift's newest release, The Tortured Poets Department, specifically his alleged "diss track."

While walking through a crowd of paparazzi in Los Angeles on April 24, Healy was questioned about his thoughts on what was dubbed his "Taylor diss track." With a brief chuckle, The 1975 frontman responded, "My diss track? Oh! I haven't really listened to that much of it, but I'm sure it's good," giving his ex-lover a compliment.

While the videographer doesn't specify which TTPD song was the "diss track," there are multiple songs on the album believed to be about Healy, including "Fortnight," and "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," among others.

Swift's double album, which features the song, was released on April 19. Although Healy, 35, is not explicitly named, he is widely believed to be a recurring muse throughout the record. The pop star's lyrics on the track "Guilty as Sin?" hint at Healy when she references an unnamed person sending her the 1989 synth-pop hit "The Downtown Lights" by The Blue Nile, a group Healy once declared as his "favorite band of all time." Additionally, Healy has acknowledged that The 1975's track "Love It If We Made It" drew inspiration from this song.

In the titled track, Swift, 34, vividly describes her lover bringing a typewriter into her apartment, an act that seems to mirror Healy's known preference for analog methods of writing. Healy had previously told GQ in 2018, "The thing is with typewriters, and writing with pen to paper, there's a kind of element of commitment that goes with the ceremony of it... It requires you to concentrate a bit better." He also admitted to having had crushes on certain "pop stars" during this interview.

The album also explores fleeting romance in the song "loml," where Swift sings about a rapid-fire relationship: "It was legendary / It was momentary / It was unnecessary / Should've let it stay buried."

The pair first met in 2014, though their short-lived romantic involvement blossomed years later. Healy confirmed in 2022 that he had collaborated with Swift on her 10th studio album, Midnights, though the song was never released. Swift supported Healy by performing at a 1975 concert in London in January 2023, and in February, he attended her Eras Tour concert in Nashville. They were also seen holding hands publicly in May 2023, signaling a significant development in their relationship.
