The last person to claim a Mega Millions prize was a woman from Oregon. Ann Mingus from Springfield, Oregon, won $3 million after purchasing the winning ticket for the November 30 drawing, according to the Mega Millions website.

Mingus told lottery officials she went to buy the ticket after she saw a billboard for the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots. She purchased the ticket from a Lottery to Go machine at the Cottage Grove Safeway in Springfield.

"I like to use the machine then I don't have to wait in line at customer service," she told lottery officials. "A lot of people don't know you can buy Mega Millions and other tickets from them."

This was the largest Mega Millions jackpot sold in Oregon history, according to Safeway spokesperson Jill McGinnis.

"We can't believe our local Cottage Grove Safeway sold the winning $3 million Mega Millions ticket," McGinnis previously said in a statement. "We're so happy for our customer! It just goes to show, you never know who's going to win – it could be you the next time you're picking up dinner!"

The $1.6 billion lottery ticket that was sold in South Carolina in October still remains unclaimed. The lucky winner has until April to claim the billion dollar prize.
