The last person to claim a Mega Millions prize was a grandmother from Brooklyn, New York. Dulce Garcia, 60, told lottery officials purchased the winning one million dollar ticket at Rocky Food on MacDonald Avenue in Brooklyn for the December 11 lottery drawing. She matched the first five numbers of the lottery drawing, which were 04-38-39-54-59.
"I checked my numbers on the Lottery website and was shocked that I won $1,000,000," Garcia told lottery officials.
The one million dollar prize was paid as a lump sum payment and the 60-year-old walked away with a check of $633,040, according to the lottery website. She told lottery officials she plans on using her winnings to take care of her grandchildren and go on vacation to Greece.
On New Year's Day, someone from New York won the Mega Millions jackpot worth $425 million. The jackpot numbers announced earlier this month were 34-44-57-62-70, Mega Ball 14 and Megaplier 4X, the Mega Millions website states.
