Thomas Markle still isn't giving up on his relationship with his daughter, though the pair haven't spoken since her marriage. He claims he's done everything to reach out to Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, including reaching out to her mother, Doria Ragland, to inquire about his daughter's decision to ignore him.

"I even hand-delivered a letter to Doria asking her why our daughter won't speak to me," he told Mail on Sunday.

Markle has been known to give extensive interviews on his daughter's place in the royal family. In the past, he's claimed she seems genuinely unhappy, and that he has been desperately trying to reach Meghan since her marriage. Meghan is still close with her mother, who often visits her at Kensington Palace.

Markle also claimed he's tried to contact Meghan directly, and it doesn't seem her phone number has changed. "I have sent several texts. Her number hasn't changed and they haven't bounced back," he said. "I've pleaded with her to pick up the phone. I wrote her a two-page letter and sent it by certified mail via her representative in Los Angeles. I asked her why she was believing the lies."

Meghan was married to Prince Harry in May. In October, the pair announced they're expecting their first child in the Spring. Markle wants to be around for his grandchild, as does Meghan's sister, Samantha Markle, who has been vocal about Meghan's decision not to speak with her father. Samantha, who has often been harshly vocal about her step-sister and her new life, turned a corner and began sharing kind messages about the Duchess on social media just before news of her pregnancy broke.

While it's unclear if Markle knew of Meghan's pregnancy before the general public, some assume he was let in on the breaking news early. "I thought, 'My baby is having a baby,'" he The Mail in October. "It was a very proud moment."

In the conversation, he also recalled the moment he held Meghan for the first time. "When they handed her to me and I held her in my arms for the first time it was love at first sight," he said. "She was the most beautiful baby. Meghan winked at me and I fell in love and have never stopped loving her from that day forward."
