Mesut Ozil will begin talks over a new contract at Arsenal "soon."

The 28-year-old Germany international told Die Welt that he felt "comfortable" at Emirates Stadium and would start discussions to stay past 2018 shortly.

Ozil has less than 18 months left on his current deal at Arsenal, where he has played since a transfer from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.

"Do you think Arsene Wenger tells the journalists [about a new contract] before he tells me? I know him differently," Ozil said.

"I have a contract until 2018 in London and I feel very comfortable there. We'll talk soon and then make a decision.

"My dream is to win the Champions League. Why not with Arsenal? Of course, we just have a difficult time and are not satisfied with sixth place."

Arsenal was knocked out of this season's Champions League at the round of 16 stage three weeks ago by Bayern Munich, losing 10-2 on aggregate.

In the Premier League it trails Liverpool, which occupies the final Champions League qualifying place of fourth, by six points with two games in hand.
