Retired Air Force General Michael V. Hayden was hospitalized earlier this week after he had a stroke.
The Michael V. Hayden Center for Intelligence, Policy and International Security confirmed in a statement to Politico reporter Jake Sherman that the former CIA director had a stroke at home. The statement added that Hayden is receiving expert medical care, although it did not say where.
"As General Hayden begins the healing process, the family requests that their privacy be respected," the statement said. "The General and his family greatly appreciate the warm wishes and prayers of his friends, colleagues and supporters."

Hayden is a retired four-star general, who served in the Air Force for more than 40 years. He also served as the former director of the National Security Agency, from 1999 to 2005, as well as, the former director of the CIA under then-President George W. Bush.
