Mom's Horror as She Realizes Inappropriate Gift She Gave Teen—A Year Later

Finding the perfect Christmas gift for friends and family is often difficult, but one mom has been left wondering how she got her daughter's present so hilariously wrong last year.

In a TikTok video that has gone viral, user @resolutera showed the hoodie she bought her teen daughter last Christmas that she finally realized isn't decorated with a simple camouflage print. She previously thought the zippers were shaped like fairies, but upon closer inspection, she discovered they're shaped like exotic dancers.

The mom's horror didn't stop there. She next noticed that the camouflage was actually the outlines of more scantily clad women. Needless to say, it certainly wasn't what she had in mind when she gave it to her daughter last year, joking that it "took [her] 11 months to notice."

After finally seeing the mistake nearly a year later, the TikToker told Newsweek that it taught her to be a bit wiser when she's holiday shopping. "Note to self: inspect clothes more thoroughly next time," she said.

She shared her unexpected discovery online as a "PSA [public service announcement] for the Christmas shopping parents" so others can avoid making the same mistake. Despite her shock, the mom's unfortunate error has delighted many people, as the video has already been viewed more than 1.2 million times and received over 149,100 likes since it was posted on November 26.

While Christmas is meant to be a cheerful and joyous time of year, it can also be highly stressful for many. A recent American Psychological Association (APA) survey revealed that 40 percent of Americans were concerned about finding the right gift, and 58 percent cited fears about spending too much money.

Not all the concerns were money-related; however, 38 percent were stressed about missing family or loved ones, 30 percent said there was pressure to make the holidays special, and 19 percent were worried about traveling. Overall, many concerns can plague people this time of year, as 89 percent of respondents said they feel stress during the holiday season.

When she shared her PSA to urge other parents to be cautious about what they buy for their family, @resolutera certainly wasn't expecting such a huge response to the video.

"I appreciate the upbeat comments and the laughter. Here's to more careful shopping next time," she told Newsweek.

Among the hundreds of comments on the post about the sweatshirt, many people insisted that it was an honest mistake, and some even wanted to know where they could get one of their own.

"To be fair, looks like camo," a commiserating commenter said.

Another TikTok user wrote: "It took me 4 watches to spot what u were talking about. So easy to not notice!"

"She was not just any girl, she was a fairy," one person joked.
