The 35th annual MTV Video Music Awards came to a close Monday. The inaugural event featured standout performances from the likes of Nicki Minaj and Panic! at the Disco, but it's the red carpet fashion moments from the nights biggest stars in attendance that remains on the minds of many.
In years past, the star-studded event has brought about memorable appearances from Selena Gomez's bold Atelier Versace dress paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewels in 2013 to Nicki Minaj's daring look in a Bao Tranchi dress in 2016. The show, however, has also attracted some questionable fashion moments too. Lil Kim's famous purple pasty outfit in 1999 and Lady Gaga's questionable meat dress in 2010, for example, were among the worst looks to surface in event history.
Monday's ceremony proved to bring about the good, the bad and the ugly. With 2018's event in mind, here is a look at some of the best and worst dressed celebrities at this year's VMAs.
Best Dressed
Jennifer Lopez
Over the years, Lopez has proven to be a red carpet staple. As this year's Michael Jackson Vanguard award recipient, she managed to bring her A-game once again. She hit the red carpet in a sparkly silver one-shoulder gown by Versace.
Cardi B
Cardi B made her first red carpet appearance since giving birth to 1-month-old daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus. She stunned in a vibrant fuchsia-colored dress by Nicolas Jebran.
Shay Mitchell
Mitchell may not have attended the event as a musical artist, but the actor brought the heat in upon arriving at the VMAs. The Pretty Little Liars alum turned heads in her long-sleeved orange mini-dress by Nicolas Jebran.
Olivia Munn
Munn, whose set to star in The Predator in September, proved to be a ray of sunshine on the VMAs red carpet. The actor wore a sleek, sparkly purple dress by David Koma. The bold dress boasted a high thigh slit as well.
Hayley Kiyoko
Kiyoko, a Disney alum who went up against Cardi B for Best New Artist, dazzled on the red carpet. She hit the event wearing a STELLO gown and Sophia Webster shoes alongside jewelry by Borgioni.
Chloe X Halle
The musical sister duo of Chloe and Halle Bailey, also known as Chloe x Halle, took a break from their duties of opening up for power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z during the On The Run II Tour to hit the VMAs red carpet. In doing so, the pair wore matching dresses by Iris van Herpen and jewelry by Tiffany & Co.
Madison Beer
Beer, 19, was a sight for sore eyes on the VMAs red carpet. The "Dead" singer wore an all-white Raisa & Vanessa suit. She paired her ensemble with Norman Silverman jewels and Jimmy Choo shoes.
Worst Dressed
Amber Rose
Rose, born Amber Levonchuck, stood out on Monday's red carpet for all the wrong reasons. She showed up in a fire engine red-colored devil costume.
Tiffany Haddish
Haddish was known to frequent many high-profile events in her noteworthy $4000 white dress by Alexander McQueen. This look was greatly missed during her VMAs arrival Monday, where the Girls Trip star wore a Naeem Khan dress with Sophia Webster shoes and jewelry by Chopard.
Rita Ora
Ora, a signer who was a former host of America's Next Top Model, is known to wear bold looks. Her VMAs outfit on Monday, however, wasn't her best. She hit the red carpet in a highly sheer dress by Fleur du Mal. She paired this look with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz.
Kim Petras
Petras is a rising musical act from Germany whose known to have a fun and eclectic fashion style, but she didn't seem to hit the mark Monday. She arrived on the red carpet in a pink zebra-printed dress by Moschino.
Blac Chyna
Chyna left little to the imagination on Monday's red carpet. The often risqué star wore a pink chain dress, which she paired with Louboutins.
Dascha Polanco
Polanco was a standout during Season 6 of Orange Is the New Black, but the actor didn't impress in her completely see-through, knee-length laced gown. Her makeup, however, was stunning.
