Netflix, Amazon, Hulu: The Shows and Films Coming and Going in April

Sales of Margaret Atwood's 1985 novel The Handmaid's Tale increased 200 percent after the election, the Canadian author's publicist told NPR in February. So Hulu's highly anticipated original series based on her dystopian book, starring Elisabeth Moss, Samira Wiley and Alexis Bledel, is coming at just the right time. Due out on April 26, it's one of a slew of original shows, films and specials coming to Netflix, Amazon and Hulu next month.

Netflix's long list of originals for April includes the stand-up comedy special Louis C.K.: 2017 (April 4), the Science Guy's new talk show Bill Nye Saves the World (April 21), shows such as Girlboss (April 21) and Dear White People (April 28), movies including Win It All (April 7) and Sandy Wexler (April 14), documentaries such as Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On (April 21) and the "hybrid of fiction and non-fiction filmmkaing" Casting JonBenet (April 28). Hulu is focusing on Handmaid's Tale, while Amazon will release the series American Playboy (April 7) and new seasons of Bosch (April 21), Thunderbirds Are Go! (April 21) and Catastrophe (April 28), as well as the movie The Handmaiden (April 13).

In addition to originals, viewers will be able to watch movies and shows including Scooby-Doo, Schindler's List, Saturday Night Fever, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The BFG, Kubo and the Two Strings, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Documentary Now! and Queen of Katwe. Netflix and Hulu have also announced which titles are rotating off their platforms next month.
