'New Warriors' Showrunner Shares Squirrel Girl Footage From Canceled Marvel Show

The showrunner from the canceled Marvel TV show, New Warriors, has shared behind-the-scenes footage giving fans a glimpse at some of the comic book characters in live-action.

Kevin Biegel tweeted and deleted a number of posts on Thursday about the series and gave fans a first look at actress Milana Vayntrub in costume as the Marvel Comics superhero, Squirrel Girl.

"Feelin frisky. May do something uncouth," Biegel initially posted, per CBR.com.

Biegel then explained that the ill-fated show was canceled because it was "too gay."

He elaborated in a longer post, explaining: "There's a show we wrote a few years ago. It was very proudly gay. A singular power that be killed the show. Because it was too gay. A rich, straight, Brentwood turd. He got fired for being vile at his company. We, on the other hand, live. #NewWarriors."

The showrunner shared some more snaps of Vayntrub in costume as well as some videos featuring the character Tippy-Toe that showed cast and crew goofing around on set.

Another clip featured the costume design process that went into making Squirrel Girl's costume.

In another video, Biegel shows his kids some show footage and they are suitably impressed.

"Well...In the very least, I got to make our kids proud (yes, that's The Rocketeer score as Squirrel Girl jumps and twists and dives)," he tweeted.

On the topic of the show's cancellation, Biegel suggested that the show never made it to TV due to someone's "agenda."

He tweeted: "Sadly, we didn't get to share it with you," he wrote. "If this was a 'the show was crap' situation, I'd totally shut up and never speak. Unfortunately, this was a 'high level exec with an agenda' situation. He got fired. I still miss our show."

New Warriors was set to air on Freeform after a 10 episode series was ordered in 2017 and a pilot was filmed.

It was expected to air in 2018 but Freeform dropped it. After being shopped to other networks to no avail, the show was over.

Biegel continued in his Twitter rant: "I have nights where I can't fall asleep because I get so mad we couldn't have characters say stuff like this -- because of one exec who thought we were making a show that was 'messy.'

"Sorry. Not sorry. [New Warriors] woulda been really great. I wish we could've given it to y'all."

He added: "F*** it, I'm not deleting s***. I love our characters. I love Marvel. I love, love, love the New Warriors, in all their forms. This show would make the world better, even a little bit. Thanks for following all my bs posts. We love you.

"I love our show. I love love our cast. I love that our show says, 'All outcasts and weirdos welcome.' The world is terrifying right now. I'd rather share our joy than be too scared to share it. Doing the right thing in the face of critcism [sic] is what the [New Warriors] are all about."

In a final tweet before deleting everything, Biegel said: "Thank you for the kind words re our [New Warriors] show. It would've been totally different than any superhero show ever (up to this point, I mean sure someone is gonna do something akin to us at some point). And to be clear -- yeah, we got killed by one exec. F*** him. G'night."

Biegel has now deleted all of the posts.
