During fashion week, it's just as important to watch the crowd as the catwalk, and this New York Fashion Week is proving to be no exception. Taking place between February 6 and 13, this fashion week is parading the trends due to hit our wardrobes in fall/winter 2019. As usual, the celebrities are out in force, hoping to squeeze out the models in the editorial pages of the fashion magazines.
Kim and Kourtney Kardashian turned heads when they attended the amfAR Gala in plunging black cutout dresses, with matching smokey eye makeup. Kim's gown was Versace, and she paired it with clear plastic high heels.
Her look was defiantly her own, Instagram-ready aesthetic, but other celebs chose to adhere more closely to the current fashion zeitgeist. Supermodel and tech advocate Karlie Kloss was snapped in the street wearing Ralph Lauren coat, pants, and turtleneck all in a matchy shade of baby blue. Actress Zazie Beetz was spotted outside the same show in a similar matching outfit, although hers was in a zesty shade of yellow.
Poppy Delevingne, model and sister of Cara, sported an indoor version of this trend at the Noon By Noor front row. Her look was far more toned-down in slightly mismatched earth tones, set off with a sleek updo.
Model Candice Swanepoel was snapped looking similarly chic and understated in a brown teddy bear coat and carrying a cowboy hat after the Ralph Lauren Fashion show. Basketball star Chris Bosh sported the male answer to the look at the Tom Ford show, wearing a sleek ensemble of muted greys and beige.
Not everybody was so restrained. Runway coach Miss J. Alexander brought the full razzmatazz spirit of fashion week to the Noon By Noor front row in a pair of on-trend leather boots, set off by a dramatic cape, thick classes and a tight cap. At the Badgley Mischka front row, Alexander varied the look with a red tartan shirt and jacket.
Actor Bella Thorne looked toned-down by her own standards, but still stood out in a pink fluffy coat and super high heels. Musician/actor Ansel Elgort was spotted at the Tom Ford show in a metallic lilac suit jacket, his bleached hair slicked back. At the Michael Kors Spring 2019 Launch Party, model Bella Hadid looked to be having fun in a 90s-inspired high ponytail with bangs, a black minidress and black knee-high boots.
NYFW has only just begun and there's been plenty more celebrity style on display. Newsweek has picked out some of the best so far.
